Hunting Information

 

The stay on the island and movement in the beautiful mountains reminiscent of the Amazon rainforest is a profound experience for any visitor, especially hunters. Heming has exclusive permission to hunt in the largest hunting area in Mauritius, covering 4200 hectares, where the strongest trophies are hunted, and where the official world record for Rusa deer was taken. The hunting area is only a 10-minute drive from the beach chalets where hunters are accommodated. During the rutting season, the entire area resonates with the loud roaring of deer, and many fights between the strongest individuals can be seen on the green meadows lying on the mountain slopes. The rutting and roaring of the deer are very similar to the rutting we are used to in our conditions. The hunt begins before noon, so hunters have time to sleep well and enjoy long breakfasts on the beach. The hunt is very similar to the European deer rutting hunt and is conducted by stalking. The professional guide gets the hunter close to the roaring deer at a distance of 50 to 150 meters. Each hunter has the opportunity to choose the trophy they are interested in as they will see many deer during the hunt. Since this is the highest quality area on the island, old and strong trophy males (exclusively gold medal) are typically hunted. However, hunters have the option to take exceptionally strong trophy males (high gold - over 34 inches). Shooters who prefer long-distance shooting will also be satisfied. The professional guide takes the hunter to places where it is possible to shoot across the opposite slope at distances of 300 to 600 meters. Local hunters follow traditional hunting customs, which imbue the entire hunt and celebrations after a successful hunting day.

 

Travel Details

 

Tour Program:

1. Day 1: Departure from Vienna or Budapest in the afternoon. The best connection is through Dubai (EMIRATES) - flight duration 6 hours + 6 hours.
2. Day 2: Arrival in Mauritius in the morning, transfer to the hotel, relax, and welcome lunch or dinner, preparation of the plan for the upcoming hunting days.
3. - 6. Day: Hunting days. The hunt begins before noon and lasts until the evening. Days with free program. Relax on the beach or active program (fishing, catamaran sailing, rum tasting, etc.).
4. Day 7: Transfer to the airport and departure home.
5. Day 8: Return home.

Weather

 

During the hunting season from June to September, the weather on the island is very pleasant, with temperatures near the beach ranging from 26°C to 28°C and the sea temperature around 25°C. In the mountains in the hunting area, the temperature is slightly lower, around 22°C to 24°C, making the hunt very enjoyable.

 

Accommodation and Food

 

Each hunter has their own room to maintain maximum privacy. Both selected hotels offer very authentic and luxurious accommodation, providing the best island atmosphere. Each includes a spacious bathroom with a toilet and a terrace with outdoor seating. This is the best option even if the hunter decides to travel with a partner or family. Room service, daily laundry and ironing, and WiFi connection are included.

 

The price includes rich breakfasts and dinners in buffet form. If the hunter or family is interested in full board or all-inclusive, it can be ordered directly at the hotel, or they can dine in local restaurants outside the hotel resort.

 

Equipment and Gear

 

The equipment and gear for hunters should be similar to summer hunting, for example, roe deer hunting in our conditions - very simple. Since there is no possibility to import weapons to the island, hunters will rent weapons (BLASER R8 30-06, etc.) from professional guides, along with quality optics, rangefinder, shooting stick or bipod, and of course ammunition. It is advisable to bring binoculars, sturdy shoes, short and long pants (summer version), hunting shirt, etc. Essential items should include insect repellent, suitable summer hunting hat, flashlight, as well as sunscreen, sunglasses, and lip balm.

Optional Excursion

 

Mauritius, with its beautiful mountain nature, pristine beaches, and fantastic ocean full of exotic fish, offers many opportunities and activities. Therefore, our tour is planned to allow hunters time for hunting and other activities. After two days of deer hunting, the following three days can be spent by hunters in a beach villa with friends or family, enjoying local specialties in the restaurant, or they can continue hunting in a group, go out on the open ocean to catch giant tuna, marlin, sharks, or take the family on a catamaran cruise around the island. In addition to these fantastic experiential trips, we highly recommend visiting the 8-colored earth of Chamarel nearby the accommodation with a Chamarel rum tasting, and visiting the magical Hindu temple of Grand Bassin deep in the mountains. There is much to see and experience.
